SDG 9 Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
Building Uzbekistan’s digital infrastructure is TUIT’s core mission, and most of its research serves this goal.
At a glance
Research
TUIT’s research in artificial intelligence, telecommunications, cybersecurity, embedded systems, automation and data systems makes SDG 9 by far its largest research area. In September 2025, during ICT Week Uzbekistan, TUIT opened a “Living Lab” with KOICA and Kookmin University of the Republic of Korea. A TUIT student was among the top performers at the international STANDOFF 15 cybersecurity competition in May 2025.
Teaching and students
The University offers more than 30 specialisations for the digital economy. In May 2025 it produced Uzbekistan’s first bachelor’s graduates in artificial intelligence, and its students launched a miniature satellite in the CanSat Uzbekistan-2025 programme run with UzCosmos.
Campus
Laboratories, a digital manufacturing workshop and the TUIT Incubation Center give students the equipment to build prototypes.
Community and partners
TUIT works with Huawei, UZTELECOM, IT Park Uzbekistan, UzCosmos and Schneider Electric. The KOICA–Kookmin University project (2023–2027) is building a business IT education system and production zone at TUIT.

Evidence for THE 2027
SDG 9 is assessed by THE from research and financial data only (publications, patents, spin-offs and industry income). These figures are on the data page.
