What we did in 2025
Student hunger. Students were identified through the social assessment each semester and given free meals in the campus canteens. Food packages were distributed at Ramadan, Navruz and New Year to students and low-paid staff.
Campus food. Three kitchens served Uzbek, European and Korean food at several price levels, with vegetarian dishes every day. The Sustainable Food Policy, approved on 30 August 2024, requires vegetarian options every day, regular vegan options, an affordable healthy set meal for students and local purchasing wherever possible.
Food waste. Food waste was separated in the canteens, weighed at weekly collection and used as animal feed on a farm in Oqtosh village, Tashkent region.
Agriculture. TUIT researchers continued work on remote farm-plot management and on small-scale hydropower for irrigation, and student agri-tech projects were shown at the “Kelajak texnologiyalari” exhibition in March 2025.
Partners
Catering contractors, food waste partner, farmers of Tashkent region, Erasmus+ NICOPA consortium.
Next steps
Introduce daily vegan options and the regulated student meal in every outlet; record the share of food bought from local producers; hold at least two events with local farmers.
