Reasonable accommodation policy and funded mechanism for persons with disability

Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi has a reasonable accommodation policy for persons with disabilities, with a funded mechanism.

- TUIT main campus in Tashkent. Figures cover the main campus; activities of the regional branches (Fergana, Nukus, Samarkand, Nurafshon, and Urgench, which joined Urgench State University in 2025) are mentioned where TUIT took part. Activities described took place at the main campus unless a branch is named.

The policy
The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy, approved on 30 August 2024 (TUIT-SP-10, paragraph 13), requires the University to provide accessible facilities and reasonable accommodation for students and employees with disabilities and to plan adequate funding for this in its annual budget. Requests for accommodation are considered confidentially and promptly by the student and employee support service. Reasonable accommodation is defined in paragraph 5 as necessary and appropriate adjustments to premises, teaching, assessment or working arrangements that enable a person with a disability to study or work on an equal basis with others. The Policy replaced the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy adopted in 2022.

- Extra time, a separate room or an assistant in examinations.
- Assistive software and adapted computer equipment.
- Teaching moved to an accessible room.
- Adjusted working hours or workplace for employees.
- Sign-language interpretation.
