SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy

Overview

TUIT contributes to SDG 7 through campus solar energy adoption, energy efficiency infrastructure, practical renewable energy experiments, and international collaboration programmes focused on clean energy education and research. The University’s ERASMUS+ and bilateral exchange

partnerships specifically target renewable energy as a priority area. https://tuit.uz/en/energy-conservation-program

Research & Innovation

TUIT’s Scopus portfolio includes 83 articles (3.6%) classified under SDG 7, covering solar energy systems, power grid optimization, energy efficiency algorithms, and renewable energy integration. Source. Key 2024–2025 highlights:

  • ERASMUS+ DEBSEUz Project (Spain, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, TOP 100): TUIT is the grandholder of this Erasmus+ Capacity Building project focused on renewable energy, specifically solar energy education. TUIT teaching staff participated in the 2025 training cycle in Madrid. https://t.me/tuituz_official/26203?single

  • ERASMUS+ INMACOM Project (Belgium, Vrije Universiteit Brussel): Photonics and optical communications research supporting energy-efficient telecommunications infrastructure. https://t.me/tuituz_official/19830

  • TUIT faculty demonstrated a watermill-based electricity generation experiment in Yuqori Chirchiq (2 kWh/hour capacity from irrigation canal flow). https://t.me/tuituz_official/21938

  • Campus solar panel systems integrated as part of campus modernisation and sustainability programme Yashil Universitet (Green University) — TUIT official page

A total of 1,041 solar panels were installed at the Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi as part of the national program “Installation of Solar Panels in State Higher Education Institutions.” Since then, the university has been generating renewable energy through this solar power system. Total amount of energy produced by renewable sources was 981300 kWh during the period. https://tuit.uz/en/environmental-sustainability#energy

  • LED lighting systems implemented across campus buildings as energy efficiency measures

Education & Students

  • Students in "IT, Technologies and Engineering Sciences (Renewable Energies)" track eligible for exchange at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences (Germany, spring semester 2025). https://t.me/tuituz_official/22567

  • Qatar-Uzbekistan higher education cooperation (September 2024): TUIT rector participated in Doha meetings with Qatar Ministry of Higher Education, exploring joint renewable energy and technology programmes. https://t.me/tuituz_official/21791

  • Practical energy experiments integrated into curriculum — students observe real-world renewable energy generation from local water infrastructure. https://tuit.uz/en/energiya-taminlash-tizimlari
