SDG 10 Reduced Inequalities
With six regional branches, quotas, scholarships and accessible facilities, TUIT opens ICT education to people who would otherwise be left out.
At a glance
Research
TUIT develops assistive technology, including the “Braille-Sound Keyboard” program, which lets blind and visually impaired students use a computer with speech support, and datasets that help build accessible digital services for persons with disabilities.
Teaching and students
Applicants with disabilities are admitted within the state quota on free places, with adapted entrance tests. Students with hearing and visual impairments study in specially equipped computer classrooms. Additional scholarships, free meals and dormitory priority support students from low-income families. The branches bring ICT education to regions far from Tashkent.
Campus
Main buildings and student residences have ramps or step-free entrances, accessible toilets and reserved parking, and the University publishes a map of its inclusive facilities. The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy and the Anti-Harassment and Protection of Complainants Policy protect everyone on campus.
Community and partners
Through the Erasmus+ project DECIDE, TUIT worked with Transilvania University of Brașov and Dresden University of Technology on services for students with disabilities. All positions reserved at TUIT for people with disabilities have been filled.
