Uzbekistan – Korea Policy Research Forum Held

On 1 May 2026, the Uzbekistan – Korea Policy Research Forum was held in Tashkent. The event was organized by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi (TUIT), the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI), and Seoul National University.

The forum was dedicated to the theme: “Strategic Application of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation in Education, Energy, and Regional Development.”

The main objective of the event was to strengthen policy research cooperation between Uzbekistan and Korea, develop long-term academic ties between universities and think tanks, and discuss the methodological and institutional aspects of applying artificial intelligence in data-driven decision-making.

During the opening ceremony, the Rector of TUIT, Professor Bakhtiyor Makhkamov, highlighted the importance of integrating artificial intelligence and digital technologies into the education system, expanding scientific cooperation, and promoting international knowledge exchange.

The forum brought together representatives of Seoul National University, the Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR), the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI), as well as officials from local and international ministries, organisations, and leading independent experts.

Within the framework of the forum, key topics discussed included:

the use of artificial intelligence in higher education;

digital technologies in regional development;

AI solutions in the energy sector.


This forum served as an important platform for strengthening research collaboration between Uzbekistan and Korea, exchanging experience, and fostering the development of joint projects.
