Sustainability and SDG Report 2025 — SDG 13 Climate Action
Progress in 2025
TUIT confirmed its commitment to carbon neutrality for Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2050 or earlier and began annual greenhouse gas reporting.
This chapter of the annual Sustainability and SDG Report of Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi reports progress against SDG 13, Climate Action, for the year 2025. Figures cover the main campus in Tashkent; activities of the regional branches are mentioned where relevant.

What we did in 2025
Commitment. Since 30 August 2024 the Sustainable Development Policy has committed TUIT to cut Scope 1 and 2 emissions by at least 15% by 2030 and by at least 50% by 2040 against 2022–2023 and to reach carbon neutrality for them by 2050 or earlier, counting only high-integrity, permanent removals for any residual emissions.
Climate Action Plan. The Sustainability Committee keeps a Climate Action Plan covering mitigation and adaptation. Since 30 August 2024 the Sustainable Development Policy requires it to be published on the University website and shared with the local government (khokimiyat) and community organisations.
Engagement. In Uzbekistan’s Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy, TUIT staff and students planted more than 900 trees under the “Yashil Makon” programme, most of them with residents of Oqtepa mahalla, Yunusobod district.
Partners
Oqtepa mahalla (Yunusobod district); Youth Union.
Next steps
Publish the 2025 greenhouse gas inventory; share the Climate Action Plan and record responses; work with the emergency authorities on heatwave preparedness.
