Sustainability and SDG Report 2025 — Campus operations

Summary

This chapter reports the environmental performance of TUIT’s own campuses in 2025: energy, greenhouse gas emissions, water, waste, transport and procurement, against the targets of the Sustainable Development Policy.

Energy Energy per m² (GJ) — 0.47 −10% by 2030 against 2025
Energy Low-carbon share — 2.6% Increasing
Emissions Scope 1 + 2 (t CO₂e) — ≈3,286 −15% by 2030 and −50% by 2040 against 2022–2023; neutral by 2050 or earlier
Water Total use (m³) not reported 95,418 Reduce per person
Water Reused water (m³) — not measured Increase
Waste Generated (t) — ≈145 —
Waste Recycled or reused share — ≈9% 25% by 2030
Food waste Collected and reused (t) — ≈13 Reduce
Plastics Disposable items bought — Baseline being established −30% by 2030
Procurement Contracts with sustainability clauses — Catering, cleaning, security and vending contracts All new major contracts by 2030

Energy and emissions

The 1,366 solar panels (755 kW) remained the main source of low-carbon energy. Since 30 August 2024 the Energy and Carbon Management Policy has required a Building Upgrade Plan and regular energy reviews, and the 2025 figures serve as the baseline for the energy-intensity target.

Water

Water was metered monthly at every site. All wastewater went to municipal treatment.

Waste

Waste was separated and weighed monthly; food waste was used as animal feed, and electronic and hazardous waste went to licensed processors.

Transport

The main campus is 200 m from Bodomzor metro station. Administrative meetings were held online by default.

Procurement

The Sustainable and Ethical Procurement Policy, approved on 30 August 2024, replaced the Sustainable Procurement Policy and requires major suppliers to sign a Supplier Code of Conduct.
