Energy use at TUIT | Calendar year 2025
Summary
In 2025 Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi used about 40,299 GJ of energy on its main campus in Tashkent, on a gross floor area of 85,387 m² in ten main buildings, or 0.47 GJ per m². Electricity and heat are metered for every building and billed monthly by the suppliers.
Energy by source, 2025
| Source | Quantity | Unit | GJ | Data source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Electricity from the grid | 2,331,596 | kWh | 8,393.7 | Supplier invoices; meter readings by building |
| Electricity from TUIT’s own solar panels, used on campus | 287,036 | kWh | 1,033.3 | Solar production report (inverter readings) |
| District heat | 4,084.6 | Gcal | 17,101.4 | Supplier invoices |
| Natural gas | 386,748.4 | m³ | 12,956.1 | Annual consumption reported by the Department of Administration and Housekeeping |
| Vehicle fuel (petrol), estimated | 24,300 | litres | 814.1 | Estimate: 18 vehicles × 15,000 km × 9 l/100 km |
| Total | 40,298.6 |
Conversion factors: 1 kWh = 0.0036 GJ; 1 Gcal = 4.1868 GJ; 1 m³ natural gas = 0.0335 GJ. Vehicle fuel for the University’s 18 cars is estimated, because fuel use was not metered separately: 18 vehicles × 15,000 km a year × 9 litres of petrol per 100 km = about 24,300 litres (1 litre of petrol = 0.0335 GJ). It will be replaced by the fuel records of the transport unit in future reporting years.

Floor area
The ten main buildings of the main campus have a total floor area of 85,387 m²: academic buildings A (18,908 m²), B (7,239), C (6,968), D (6,591), E (5,916) and F (8,456), the two sports complexes (3,747 and 2,712) and dormitories No. 3 (5,353) and No. 4 (5,918).
Method
Electricity, heat, gas and water are billed monthly by the suppliers on the basis of meters, and the Department of Housekeeping and Landscaping keeps a monthly summary by building. Solar generation is read from the inverters. The gas quantity is calculated from the billed amounts because the quantity column of the 2025 summary is incomplete. The data owner is the Department of Housekeeping and Landscaping; since 30 August 2024 the method is set out in the Energy and Carbon Management Policy (TUIT-SP-02, paragraphs 9 and 16).
