On 24 February 2026, an open dialogue was held at the Kuksaroy Residence between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the youth of the country. This dialogue was not merely another event, but a meeting point of the aspirations of more than 22 million young men and women of our nation and the strategic goals of the state. More than 60,000 young people took part in this meeting, and the most important conclusion for every participant was clear: we are not simply the future — we are the greatest political and economic force of today.
The key lesson from this dialogue is that the state’s trust in youth is reflected not only in words, but in concrete figures and financial mechanisms. The fact that 600,000 young people enter the labour market each year represents a great responsibility; however, the additional 200 million dollars allocated to youth entrepreneurship, investments of up to 100,000 dollars for innovative startups, and concessional loans for young entrepreneurs transform this responsibility into opportunity.
One of the most inspiring aspects was the information that our young people have won more than 400 medals at international science Olympiads and that 3,500 of our representatives are studying at universities ranked among the global TOP-100. This demonstrates that our intellectual potential can compete on the world stage. Furthermore, the “Second Chance” project, which supports young people returning to society, once again proved that human dignity stands above all in our country.
During the meeting, one thing became clear: communication with youth should not consist of formal or lofty rhetoric, but should be conducted in a simple, open and sincere manner. The President’s direct dialogue with young people and his willingness to listen to their proposals should serve as an example for leaders at all levels.
For young people to express their problems and not fear making mistakes, they must have confidence. Such confidence can only be formed through sincere roundtable discussions. When making vital decisions such as choosing education and a profession, the need of the time is not to issue instructions “from above”, but to consult with youth as equal partners.
This speech by the President has placed an entirely new responsibility on university rectors: higher education institutions must no longer be merely diploma-granting bodies, but strategic centres that prepare young people to become employed, financially independent and globally competitive individuals.
In conclusion, it should be emphasised that the dialogue of 24 February 2026 will remain an indelible and significant page in our history. Inspired by the President’s attention, university rectors are today confidently setting out to build New Uzbekistan. New Uzbekistan signifies not only modern buildings, but renewed thinking, an educated generation and a bright future. This historic meeting has become a vivid example of the harmony of trust, opportunity and responsibility. It gave wings to young people, inspired them, and further strengthened their sense of responsibility before the state and society. Youth are a great force capable of changing history. Indeed, youth are the greatest wealth, the most reliable support and the brightest future of New Uzbekistan.
Dear Youth,
This meeting held with the participation of our respected President opens new horizons for you. The task now is to make effective use of the opportunities provided and further elevate Uzbekistan’s position in the Global Youth Development Index. As the Head of State emphasised, you must become not only an economic force, but also the spiritual and intellectual driver of the nation.
For this, you need persistent effort, knowledge and, most importantly, steadfastness in pursuing your goals. The President has opened the door for you; now it is in your hands to step through it confidently and build New Uzbekistan.
