Central Asia–European Union Universities Congress Has Begun

The Central Asia–European Union Universities Congress has officially commenced in the city of Samarkand. A delegation led by the Rector of the Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi is also actively participating in the event.

This prestigious event has brought together ministers, deputy ministers, and representatives of more than 300 higher education institutions and international organisations from Central Asian countries and member states of the European Union.

For reference, the Congress includes:

more than 80 representatives from 45 universities from European Union countries;

over 40 participants from more than 20 universities across Central Asia;

more than 200 representatives from over 80 higher education institutions from Uzbekistan.


The official opening ceremony of the Congress was attended by:

Ilhom Siradjev, Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan;

Kongratbay Sharipov, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan;

Asilbek Khudayarov, Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan;

Toivo Klaar, Ambassador of the European Union to Uzbekistan;

Marcin Kulasek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Poland;

Saidzoda Rahim Hamro, Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan;

Bogumila Kanevska, President of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland;

Valdemar Sivinski, President of the IREG Observatory on Academic Ranking and Excellence.


During the ceremony, participants shared views and proposals on strengthening partnerships in the fields of education and science.

This Congress serves as an important platform for the development of higher education systems, strengthening scientific cooperation, and launching new collaborative projects.
