TUIT TODAY

  • 1955 – Tashkent Electrotechnical Institute of Communications (TEIC);
  • 1960 - First generation of telecommunication engineers;
  • 1978 – Correspondence faculty base stations of TEIC were opened in Frunze (now Bishkek), in Dushanbe, Almaty and the cities of Fergana;
  • 1993 - Formation of special faculty under the Institute of TEIC for officers training;
  • 1994 - Formation of the Institute under the Central Asian Telecommunications Training Centre in order to train engineers and technical staff for networks in Central Asian Republics, Mongolia, India and Pakistan;
  • 1997 - Formation of Boarding lyceum under the institute of TEIC;
  • 1999 - Formation of academic lyceum under the institute of TEIC;
  • 2002 - TEIC was renamed into Tashkent University of Information Technologies (TUIT) according to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan 2005 - Regional branches of TUIT were opened in Karshi, Nukus, Samarkand, Urgench and Fergana cities;                                                                  

Tashkent University of Information Technologies (former Tashkent Electrotechnical Institute of Communications) was founded in 1955. On May 30, 2002, in accordance with the Decree № 3080 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan it was renamed into the Tashkent University of Information Technology. On June 2, 2005, according to the resolution № 91 by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan regional branches of TUIT were formed in Karshi, Samarkand, Urgench and Fergana cities.

On March 26, 2013 in accordance with Resolution № 1942 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On improvement the system of personnel training in the field of information and communication technologies", recent years number of events has being held to improve the system at the level of international standards on training highly qualified specialists in the field of ICT.

There are 13 faculties, 62 departments, 23 directions of education, including 8 new directions of bachelor’s and 9 new master’s specialty in the structure of the University and in its regional filial branches.

In total, there are 10242 students, including 9858 bachelor students and 384 masters. Over the last year 1 student  has won the President Scholarship of the Republic of Uzbekistan, 5 State scholarship students, there are 32 students, who won the Communication fields Scholarship,  and 44 students with scholarship prizes at the national Olympiads and competitions respectively. The university has 780 professor-teachers, including 204 candidates of sciences and associate professors. Teachers with scientific degrees are 31% of the total number.

The total area of the University and its filial branches composes 54.4 sq. km. There are 380 school classrooms, 113 laboratories, 10 research laboratories, 9 sports complexes and grounds, 7 dormitories and 11 kitchen facilities.

University has established cooperation with 26 foreign countries’ (such as South Korea, Japan, Germany, France, India) 42 universities, 8 research centers, 12 companies and organizations.

Thanks to international cooperation in recent years, there 16 teaching laboratories, 9 computer classrooms, 4 education centers: the Uzbek-Indian Center of Information Technologies, Uzbek-Korean Center for Information Technologies, "Plaza" Uzbek-Korean Center, regional academic center "CISCO" have been formed. Indian Uzbek-Indian center of Information Technologies after the name J.Neru has been modernized with the grant funds of 500 thousand US dollars.

On December 14-22, 2015, the delegation consisting of the directors of two regional branches of the university and the head of the International Relations Department visited the Seoul National University in South Korea. The main purpose of the visit was to participate in an international conference and event held to celebrate the 10th anniversary of cooperation between the CMU and TATU. At the conference TUIT delegation and SMU students trained in the Masters and Doctorate degree, presented the thesis presentation about current activities of TUIT and its filial branches. In addition, two professors of TUIT gave online presentation on their research projects in the form of a video conference.

To study Next Generation Networks (NGN) in University and its filial branches there are 6 educational-scientific laboratories of "Uzbektelecom" company. This year, university students held faculty exhibition in which Internet applications and more than 90 software and technical innovations were presented for the mobile devices supporting Android, IOS and Windows OS. There are special patents and 71 certificates were gained.

Since 2012 in TUIT and in its branches there are continuous multi-stage study of English language courses organized for teachers. As a result, at the beginning of 2015-2016 academic year, 52% of the total number of teachers were able to speak in English. 2013-2014 academic year, the university and its branches began to teach 71 teachers of special subjects in English language.

In 2013-2014 academic year in the University entrance exams English language was included. In academic year 2015-2016 the number of specialized subjects increased from 31 to 60. Most of them is taught in English.

Recent years 610 textbooks and manuals (including in academic year 2012-2013 – 179, in 2013-2014 - 205 and in 2014-2015 – 226) have been developed by professor and teacher.  

Information Resource Center (IRC) of the University fund includes more than 322 thousand publications - 194 thousand educational literature, 100859 Research Foundation, more than 13 thousand electronic publications. English-language foreign literature fund is 16 thousand.  Irbil and Armani programs operate in the IRC. Whole IRC fund is set in this program. The total number of bibliographic writers reached to 42752. There are 58 doctoral dissertations. TUIT students have free access to the sites www.dilib.uz and www.natlib.uz

A variety of information systems have been introduced into the process of management of the university and the educational process. In particular, the "Dean's office" electronic program www.decanat.tuit.uz and the System executive discipline and Electronic document exchange wwww.dcs.tuit.uz

In 2014/2015 academic year in order to improve the quality of the work of graduate students and master's thesis antiplagiarism system was implemented.

For last three years 490 people studied at the special teacher training courses.

On the basis of 71 projects with the total cost of 3.98 billion sums scientific-research work and 126 projects worth 2.25 billion sums of agricultural work carried out on the basis of a contract with enterprises.
