SDG 7 Affordable and Clean Energy

TUIT generates solar power on its own roofs, is cutting the energy its buildings use, and trains Uzbekistan’s next energy engineers.

Research

TUIT researchers work on solar energy systems, power-grid optimisation, energy-efficiency algorithms and the integration of renewables. TUIT is the grant holder of the Erasmus+ project DEBSEUz, which is developing a bachelor’s programme in solar energy for Uzbekistan with Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and other partners.

Teaching and students

Students in electrical engineering and energy supply systems learn on real equipment, including field training at the “Fizika-Quyosh” research and production association in Parkent district, home of a large solar furnace. Students can also join exchange programmes in renewable energies at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences in Germany.

Campus

The Energy and Carbon Management Policy sets energy-efficiency standards for every new building and renovation, a Building Upgrade Plan for existing buildings, regular energy reviews of the buildings and an annual inspection before the heating season. The Sustainable Investment and Divestment Policy rules out investment in fossil-fuel companies.

Community and partners

The Department of Energy Supply Systems shares its knowledge with residents, schools and businesses, and the Incubation Center supports start-ups working on clean energy and energy saving.
