Sustainability and SDG Report 2025 — SDG 6 Clean Water and Sanitation
Progress in 2025
In 2025 TUIT set out a full water management framework and began collecting complete water data for every site.
This chapter of the annual Sustainability and SDG Report of Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi reports progress against SDG 6, Clean Water and Sanitation, for the year 2025. Figures cover the main campus in Tashkent; activities of the regional branches are mentioned where relevant.
Key figures
| Indicator | 2024 | 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| Water used (m³) | not reported | 95,418 |
| Water per person (m³) | not reported | 8.7 (campus population 11,015) |
What we did in 2025
Measurement. Water meters at each site were read monthly and checked against invoices.
Policy (30 August 2024). The Water Management Policy replaced the Water Conservation Program of 2023. It requires monthly metering, water reuse, discharge standards with periodic testing, spill prevention, free drinking water in the University’s buildings, water-saving fittings and drought-tolerant planting.
Research. TUIT inventions for measuring water levels in wells and the parameters of leaching water, and student projects on pollution detection and rainwater collection, applied the University’s ICT strengths to water.
Partners
Water supply and sewerage organisation, ITU Generation Connect (Huawei).
Next steps
Report 2025 water use for every site; start measuring reused water; test wastewater discharge; run water-saving sessions for the community.
